July 15 at 11-00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 103) the grand opening of the exhibition of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Vasily Igorevich Nesterenko “Russia. Historical and spiritual boundaries. ”
With the work of the national artist of Russia, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasily Nesterenko, residents of Kaluga have already met. A year ago, his impressive, monumental, filled with inner light works were presented in the red and blue halls of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts. And here again, a meeting with the works of Vasily Nesterenko at the exposition “Russia. Historical and spiritual boundaries ”, which, like the previous one, is dedicated to our Motherland.
Vasily Igorevich Nesterenko is called the “artist of the Russian idea”, the conductor of Russian and Orthodox in the modern society of our country and the world as a whole. His paintings are deeply patriotic, permeated with love for Russia, its beautiful nature, historical monuments and shrines.
The painter is one of the most gifted contemporary Russian authors. This is a brilliant master with multifaceted talent, individuality, consonant with modernity. Being a classical artist and having a full academic education, he boldly takes up large-scale works in various genres. The list of his works includes historical canvases, temple murals, portraits, landscapes still lifes. Each of his works is unique and, as the audience notes, gives powerful positive energy.
In the creative treasury of the national artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko more than a thousand works, most of them are of impressive size. This time, attention will be presented to Kaluga spectators paintings reflecting the nature of the Far East and Altai, partially included in the series “Frontiers of Russia”, as well as a new series of works “Syrian Land”.
The artworks reflect his inner world. What does it mean for him to love his homeland? It is to know its history, to know its geography, to love the people living in Russia. In addition to the magnificent landscapes of Sakhalin and Altai, the exhibition “Russia. Historical and Spiritual Frontiers ”portraits of“ Keeper of Altai ”,“ Alone with Himself ”, triptych“ Echo of War ”are demonstrated. The painting “Unconquered” from the triptych “Echo of War” depicts a hero of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 who passed his military path under combat fire from Stalingrad to Kenisberg - Yuri Alexandrovich Fomichev. In another part of the triptych - “Sister of Mercy” - depicts the brave nurse Lidia Sergeyevna Bushueva, who also ended the war with the Nazis in Kenisberg. These are real "Heroes of our time." The triptych is the worship of the artist to the heroes of the past war.
But now the artist paid tribute to the defenders of Russia’s interests in the cycle of paintings “Syrian Land”, which are located in a separate room. Vasily Nesterenko got a unique opportunity to learn about the war in Syria not from the words of people who visited there, but to see everything with his own eyes. During the time that was given to him by the Ministry of Defense, he managed to visit the liberated cities, where peace is just beginning to take shape and where people are returning, to live in garrisons with our military, to feel their hard everyday life. He was able to persuade the command to allow him to participate in the flight to a distant garrison, which was located directly on the border with the ISIS positions and where the fighting was taking place. There the idea of the central picture of this exhibition, “Letter to the enemies of Russia,” was born. This picture reminds us of the famous painting by I. Ye. Repin "Cossacks writing a letter to the Turkish Sultan." Different times, different characters, but the enemies of Russia are the same. And it’s not getting smaller. And as in the old days, representatives of all the peoples of our country are fighting with them.
The artist also visited the pearl of the East - the long-suffering Palmyra. This barbarously destroyed ancient city will appear before the audience in the triptych "Syrian land". They will see what became of the ancient polis and what the bandits turned into a new modern city, built next to it.
In addition to monumental canvases, the exhibition will feature other works by the master, written on the impressions received as a result of this dangerous business trip.
So in the artist’s work, the past is projected into the present, present into the past, turning into large-scale, figuratively convincing works of art in which the connection of time and the connection of generations are visually traced.
