The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasily Igorevich Nesterenko. The exposition, timed to coincide with the 55th anniversary of the artist and the 35th anniversary of his active creative activity, includes works created over the past five years. Many of the works have never been exhibited: the exhibition is a kind of intrigue for colleagues and admirers of creativity, who are well acquainted with many of the works of V. I. Nesterenko. In the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts, you can not only see new works, but also feel how the master lived for these five years, how his artistic ideas were realized.
Vasily Nesterenko began his career in the mid-nineties. His first large painting, The Triumph of the Russian Fleet, was also his first triumph, immediately putting him on a par with venerable artists. In his works, the painter continues the best traditions of the national academic school. Vasily Nesterenko restored the historical murals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, painted the Church of the Great Martyr Panteleimon on Mount Athos, is the author of a series of paintings for the palace complex in Tsaritsyno, his historical canvases are translated into mosaics and installed in the most iconic places in the country. The bright events of Russian history, the surrounding world, man and his spiritual life form the basis of his work. Despite the fact that the artist refers to epic themes, solved in a monumental manner,
The exposition of this exhibition is divided into three thematic blocks. One of them is devoted to sketches and projects of mosaics for the Main Temple of the Russian Armed Forces in the Patriot Park - a truly titanic work has taken almost half of the last five years.
Another unique project of V. I. Nesterenko is a creative report on a trip to Syria, where he personally observed the consequences of the war on the ancient biblical land, the hard life of the Russian army in the very center of the conflict, which is on the lips of the whole world. A multi-meter canvas about our soldiers and officers, the triptych "Syrian Land" and natural sketches will allow the viewer to feel the taste of history that is happening before our eyes.
A significant part of the exhibition is devoted to the landscape series "Frontiers of Russia", created during the artist’s travels to hard-to-reach, but even more alluring places in our country. Visitors to the exhibition will be transported to Kamchatka, see volcanoes and lava fields, remember the legendary Sannikov Land, get to the top of Elbrus, find themselves in the Novaya Zemlya tundra, meet the inhabitants of the Arctic and the Pacific Ocean face to face.
V. I. Nesterenko was born in 1967 in Pavlograd, Dnepropetrovsk region. He studied at the famous Moscow secondary art school, then graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute. V. I. Surikov. His teachers were well-known artists T. Salakhov, N. Prisekin, N. Dronov and others.
