The Theater of Europe hosts a festival of contemporary authors "We and They = We" Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. The Theater of Europe, at the initiative of Lev Dodin, is holding a festival "We and They = We" for the second time, dedicated to the works of contemporary poets, prose writers and playwrights from different countries. The performances announced in the festival poster were created based on the works of the authors, first translated into Russian. They have never walked on the stage of theaters.
During the two festival days, November 22nd and 23rd, they can be seen on the MDT stage. According to Lev Dodin, this artistic action should help people understand the myths of history that politicians use to their advantage. Different sides set forth events from the side that is beneficial to them, often dates and facts do not coincide.
Remind people the truth is only for the artists of the word. According to the director, the highest goal of this action is to unite the parties separated by the problems of modern reality. The direct responsibility of writers and poets is to remind people that it is wrong to look for the guilty in everyone but themselves.
The first day of the festival was started by showing a play based on the novel Purification, written about Estonia by Finnish author Sophie Oksanen. Then the audience saw the play "Woman and War", staged according to the prose of the Hungarian publicist Alen Polz. The last event of the day was the acquaintance of the audience with the prose of Francois Emanuel, a Belgian philosopher.
The second festival day will be even more eventful. Spectators will be presented with the performance “Ear plugs”, written by Kazakh author Olzhas Zhanaydarov, and the production “Our class”. Another performance, called "Russian and Literature", staged on the novel "Stone, Scissors, Paper", written by M. Osipov. The festival will end with a poetic composition “The Child of Europe” based on poems created by Cheslav Milos and Joseph Brodsky.
