MOSCOW. For the first time, Russian viewers saw a chamber musical presented on November 14-15 on the small stage of a branch of the theater named after Pushkin. The artists of the theater showed the audience the new work of director Alexei Frandetti - the musical Christmas O’Henry, which delighted viewers in Europe and the United States for more than twenty years. The performance received the status of the best performance for family viewing.

Only the score of the performance was received from the company, the text of which was literally translated into Russian. Further work on the musical took place only by the forces of Russian artists. The chamberness of the stage space does not allow the use of any special effects, but there are no other differences from the original musical. The stories told by the American writer are born on stage with the help of acting, excellent vocals and choreography.

In the first action of the play, the plot of the story “Gifts of the Magi” is used - a Christmas story about lovers, each of whom gave the only thing he had to buy a gift. After the intermission, the audience is presented with a no less sad story described by the author in the story “The Last Leaf”.

Alexey Frandetti staged the musical for the third time. The director believes that this genre has a great future, and therefore is going to continue to work in this direction.
