MOSCOW. The premiere of his new work is the performance «Song of the Swans», the collective of the theater «School of Dramatic Art» timed to the anniversary of the event, which became a tragedy for all the peoples of our country - the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The director of the play Alexander Laptiy turned to the well-known play «Private» written by the Belarusian playwright Alexei Dudarev, written back in 1985.
In the play, which received the State Prize of the USSR, it tells about the events that took place near Berlin in the last days of the war. Performances created by the play «Private», with success went on many stages of the theaters of the country. Although Alexey Dudarev was born in the post-war period, the theme of the war often sounds in his works.
His father was a member of the war, so his father’s stories about wartime became the basis for many plays by the playwright. The audience is well acquainted with the feature film «The Brest Fortress», the script for which was written by Alexei Dudarev.
Alexander Lapty, except for the director’s work on the play, plays one of the roles in the play. According to him, the play «Private» is not only a story about military operations. First and foremost, this is a narrative about people who, in an extreme situation, were tested for strength. Before these people there was no problem of choosing between their own security and the fulfillment of their duty to the Motherland.
Duty and honor for the heroes of the play is not an abstract concept, but a natural state. The inclusion in the repertoire of the theater of the play «Song of the Swans» became a dedication to the memory of the heroes who defeated fascism. The price of this victory was life.
In the play presented to the theatrical public on June 20-21, a lot of music and songs popular in the war years were used. Performed by the musical works of the choir of the theater.
