“From the Museum Fund of the Russian Academy of Arts” is a thematic exhibition project prepared for the 265th anniversary, which introduces the viewer to the collection of the Academy. The museum collection of the Russian Academy of Arts today includes more than 3,000 works by outstanding masters of the second half of the 20th century. The project showcases paintings, sculptures, graphic works and arts and crafts donated by the presidents, academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Arts to create a collection. The jubilee exposition includes works that give an idea of the composition and diversity of the structural divisions of the Academy, a wide range of its masters of several generations.
The collection of paintings in the funds of the Academy is the most numerous and includes the works of the largest domestic painters - Z. K. Tsereteli, V. G. Kalinin, P. F. Nikonov, T. G. Nazarenko, V. A. Glukhov, I. A. Strazhenetskaya, O. V. Bulgakova, A. M. Birshtein, B. S. Ugarova (1922-1991), O. A. Eremeeva (1922-2016), D. D. Zhilinsky (1927-2015), I. P. Obrosov (1930-2010), V. I. The exposition explores the specifics of easel painting, analyzes a wide range of approaches used by contemporary artists of different generations,
The works of N. A. Ponomarev (1918-1997), L. V. Shepelev (1937–2013) and A. D. Shmarinov represent the genre diversity of graphic arts and techniques. Sculptures by V. A. Evdokimov, M. V. Dronov, N. V. Tomsky (1900-1984) and L. E. Kerbel (1917-2003) demonstrate original images and forms, a variety of stylistic solutions for easel sculptures. The exposition also includes works of decorative art by V. N. Gorislavtsev, V. A. Maloletkov and F. A. Ibragimov (1938-2020), subtle in mood, often unexpected in plasticity, color and scale of semantic content. In the exhibition halls, various types of art enter into a dialogue with each other: glass works by L. I. Savelva side by side with works in complex graphic techniques by L. V. Shepelev (1937-2013), and the marble bust of A Frenchwoman by A. A.
Many exhibition projects that take place at the Russian Academy of Arts represent a large-scale scientific study. They are designed to cover topical issues in the sciences of art, issues of ethics and aesthetics, the evolution of genres and styles, different directions from classical academic to the study of new artistic trends, the features of the development of the academic art school at the present stage. An invariable research problem is the search for an artist’s own style, the desire to form his own visual language. The museum collection of the Russian Academy of Arts will allow organizing a number of exhibition projects in the future, which are planned to be presented in the largest museums of the capital and regions of Russia.
