The White Square Prize was founded by the Guild of Cinematographers of the Union of Russian Filmmakers in 2004 with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Russian Filmmakers, the Russian Culture Foundation and the film company GDP Alliance and the support of the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia.
