The exhibition is held as part of the project "Children draw fairy tales", developed and implemented in the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin in 2004, Honored Art Worker of Russia, senior researcher I.V. Its essence is to acquaint children with the folk culture of other countries through folk tales, which means to arouse their interest in their national culture.
At this stage in the development of the project, the subject of children’s artistic interest was the book Lingua-F, published in May 2015, “We wish you happiness every year. Chinese folk tales of the 12-year calendar cycle "(translation and literary retelling of I. V. Zakharova and V. Yu. Zakharov"). Children participating in family groups of the Center for Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth Museyon Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin was invited to read these magical stories dedicated to the creatures of the Chinese Zodiac, and then express their impressions in individual and collective works. Pupils of the Moscow school No. 1231 and schools attached to the Italian Embassy in Russia joined this project, for which special master classes were organized. At the same time, the idea came up to arrange a children’s art exhibition, put on a theatrical performance on the plots of Chinese folk tales, and conduct a presentation of this book.
Such comprehensive programs were shown at the Chinese Cultural Center at the Chinese Embassy in Russia, the Russian State Children’s Library, the Biblio-Globus bookstore during a meeting of the Club of Sinists. The exhibition of children’s works by children and parents enjoyed constant attention; it was visited by representatives of the Russian public, diplomats, artists and journalists.
Children’s works are distinguished by originality of execution and a variety of used techniques: paper clipping, applique, graphic techniques, decorative panels.
The exhibition “From year to year we wish you happiness. Tales of the Chinese Zodiac ”is a continuation of creative contacts between the children’s centers of the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin and the Pushkin Museum.
