In the Museum of Moscow Streltsy “Streletsky Chambers” (Moscow, Lavrushinsky Lane, 17, p. 1), an exhibition “Godunov. Behind the scenes". The exhibition is timed to the release of the second season of the heroic film Godunov.
The exhibition will present the costumes of the main characters of the historical series: the first Tsar of All Russia, Ivan the Terrible (Sergei Makovetsky), his son, Fedor Ioanovich (Fedor Lavrov), Boris Godunov himself (Sergey Bezrukov), Irina Godunova (Anna Mikhalkov), Maria Godunova (Svetlana Khodchenkov), as well as other historical characters - Malyuty Skuratov (Victor Sukhorukov), Maria Nagoy (Irina Pegova), Vasily Shuisky (Andrey Merzlikin) and others.
Despite the fact that Godunov is a television series, the main costume designer Natalya Saltykova managed to create not just vivid images of heroes, but also to achieve maximum similarity of costumes with historical ones. Designers used ancient icons, parsons, miniatures from the annals as landmarks, and also studied museum collections. Fabrics for sewing were purchased in Istanbul, where, like hundreds of years ago, they continue to produce traditional fabrics, similar in composition and patterns to those used in Russia during the XVI-XVII centuries, and natural silk for the royal fur is hand-woven by the craftswomen of Novospassky monastery. The costumes embroidered with semiprecious stones, pearls, gold threads and natural furs were sewn for a year and a half.
The special value of the exhibition is that the costumes placed in the halls of the permanent expositions of the Moscow Strelets Chambers Museum are integrated into the historical environment of the real chambers of the 17th century and allow viewers to immerse themselves in the project era.
