The Museum of Moscow Archers “Streletsky Chambers” (Moscow, Lavrushinsky per., D. 17, p. 1) will host the exhibition “Godunov. Behind the scenes". The exhibition is dedicated to the release of the second season of the heroic movie saga "Godunov".
The exhibition will feature costumes of the main characters of the historical series: the first Tsar of All Russia Ivan the Terrible (Sergey Makovetsky), his son, Fedor Ioanovich (Fedor Lavrov), Boris Godunov himself (Sergey Bezrukov), Irina Godunova (Anna Mikhalkova), Maria Godunova (Svetlana Khodchenkova), as well as other historical characters - Malyuta Skuratova (Victor Sukhorukov), Maria Nagoy (Irina Pegova), Vasily Shuisky (Andrey Merzlikin) and others.
Despite the fact that “Godunov” is a television series, the main costume designer Natalya Saltykova managed to create not only vivid images of the characters, but also to achieve the maximum similarity of the costumes with historical ones. As a guide, designers used ancient icons, parsuns, miniatures from the annals, and also studied museum collections. Fabrics for tailoring were purchased in Istanbul, where, like hundreds of years ago, they continue to make traditional fabrics similar in composition and patterns to those used in Russia during the 16th-17th centuries, and natural silk for the royal fur coat was hand-woven by craftsmen of Novospassky the monastery. Costumes embroidered with semiprecious stones, pearls, gold threads and natural furs were sewn for a year and a half.
The special value of the exhibition is that the costumes housed in the permanent exhibition halls of the Museum of Moscow Archers “Streletsky Chambers” are integrated into the historical environment of the real chambers of the 17th century and allow viewers to immerse themselves in the era of the project.
