The exhibition demonstrates photographs from the filming of films made by Georgy Pinkhasov, Arvo Iho, Sergey Bessmertny, Grigory Verkhovsky and other authors. A special part of the exhibition is occupied by shots from films and the captured working moments of filming provided by the Mosfilm film concern. These photos vividly and peculiarly represent the very process of birth of the film world of Andrei Tarkovsky, as well as the process of the birth of myth, as well as the amazing and unique atmosphere in which all participants of the film process were immersed and which the master, in turn, created around himself.

The exposition also includes documentary films dedicated to the life and work of the director and a nostalgic photo project of Nikolai Alkhazov, returning us to the places of shooting the iconic films of Tarkovsky.

The participant of the exhibition is the famous Tatarstan artist Rashit Safiullin, who collaborated with the director in two projects: he was an artist in the play “Hamlet” of the Lenkom Theater in Moscow, as well as in Tarkovsky’s cult film “Stalker”. Unique materials related to Stalker are shown, including in the format of media art.

The cultural and exhibition center of the Russian Museum in Kazan has been open since 2016 on the basis of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. After reconstruction, the center is located in the Gallery of Modern Art.
