October 3 at 16.00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev (st. Karl Marx, 23) opens an exhibition of Ivan Blokhin, one of the most famous artists of Transbaikalia.
The name of the Chita artist Ivan Blokhin (1921–2008) is widely known not only in Transbaikalia, but also far beyond its borders. Born in the Chita region, in 1937 he entered the Irkutsk Art School, but from the fourth year he was drafted into the Red Army. Since 1945 he lived in Chita, worked in the Chita art and production workshops of the Art Fund of the RSFSR. The paintings of Ivan Blokhin appeared at exhibitions in the first post-war years of the XX century and immediately attracted the attention of art lovers. Over the long years of his work, he created several hundred works - emotionally filled, memorable and with a cheerful, bright start. The nature of Transbaikalia and Pribaikalye, city landscapes native to the artist of Chita, the Great Patriotic War, contemporaries and their labor exploits - these are the main topics that the painter has addressed throughout his life.
For the Irkutsk residents, a large-scale exhibition in memory of the master will be a real discovery. About 70 canvases fully reflect the entire creative path and range of the painter, whose creative manner is recognizable and understandable to any viewer.
Today, the artist’s works are stored in public and private collections in more than 30 cities of Russia (including in the funds of the Irkutsk Art Museum named after V.P. Sukachev), as well as abroad (Great Britain, Germany, Israel, China, USA, etc.).
The exhibition opens on October 3 at 16:00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev (st. Karl Marx, 23) and will work until October 15. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 21-70-65.
