Fashion has always reflected the culture of society throughout the entire existence of mankind. It could be used to judge the heyday and decline of empires, the development of science and technology, the influence of religion, morality and mores in society. In the lecture hall of the museum-estate "Ostafyevo" - "Russian Parnassus" they will tell about the history and origin of clothes, accessories, shoes, from the most different and unexpected sides. During the lectures it will be possible to learn how not only culture and art, but also social, economic and other factors influenced the development of fashion and costume.
We will also talk about individual wardrobe items and accessories using the example of exhibits from the Museum’s collection. It will be possible to find out their history and features: where they came from, how and why they changed over the years, right up to the present day.
