The exhibition project "On the Homeland, on Valor and Glory…" is dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812 and foreign campaigns of the Russian army. The Patriotic War of 1812 was the largest event of the beginning of the 19th century not only for Russian, but also for world history. Russia became the liberator of Europe, its overseas campaigns brought unquestioned authority to the country in the international arena. But the main thing happened not on the battlefields, but in the hearts of people. The events of 1812 showed civic unity when the estate and multinational Russian society opposed the aggressor in defense of their country. This was the time of the birth of the national idea and unity.
At the exhibition in the National Art Gallery of the Pushkin Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan presented photographs of reconstructions, paintings, graphics, arts and crafts, books, manuscripts, interactive information.
In the photographs of Yevgeny Kuleshov, reconstruction of the battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 is recorded. Groups of soldiers, individual personalities, battle scenes in powder smoke make it possible to feel the severity and scale of the event, create an integral picture of the war that happened more than 200 years ago.
The exposition was first presented (in electronic form) by the “Diary containing some observations about Russia” by the French prisoner of war, Desir Fuselier, telling about his stay in Russian captivity from May 1813 to November 1814, of which he spent six months in Tatar Spassk.
Paintings and drawings from the collection of the Pushkin Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan reveal the life and life of people involved in the events of the Patriotic War, represent the events of 1812 through the images of eyewitnesses, including Kazan citizens and residents of the Kazan province (M.N. Musin-Pushkin, A.I. Vtorov, K.F. Fuchs et al.). Documentary films, textual and interactive material about the war of 1812 help to consider the events of those times at different levels and sections.
The Patriotic War of 1812 found the widest and most diverse reflection not only in the fine, but also in the decorative and applied art. The exposition includes the medallions of Count F.P. Tolstoy dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812 and military operations of 1813-1814, porcelain decorated with military attributes, portraits of war heroes, images of battle scenes and famous Napoleonic battles from the collection of the Pushkin Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and private collections.
