On May 10, at 15.00, the Palace of Congresses State Complex will host the opening of an exhibition of Japanese arts and crafts and paintings from the collection of the Kasugai Gallery, dedicated to the Year of Japan in Russia and the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration in Japan.

Among the exhibits of the exhibition are genuine masterpieces of Japanese weapons and arts and crafts, works of famous masters of forging swords, metalwork, lacquer and bone carving. A significant part of the items belongs to the Meiji era (1868-1912), the time of the country’s discovery to the world and the brilliant exit of Japan to international exhibitions. They embodied the centuries-old experience of Japanese artists and artisans, the vibrant spirit of national culture and the desire for renewal.

Most of the exhibits have never been exported outside of Japan and are first shown in Russia.

The works will be exhibited in the palace until June 15, 2018 as part of the “Dialogue of Cultures” - a new project of the State Complex “Palace of Congresses” and will be available during a sightseeing tour of the Konstantinovsky Palace.
