MOSCOW. Although this year the famous “Snuffbox” opened the anniversary, thirtieth season, there were no special signs of the holiday at the entrance to the theater. All the festive events that took place in the theater on August 25th were dedicated to another anniversary - on August 17th, Oleg Tabakov turned 80 years old.

In honor of the hero of the day, an exhibition of photographs was opened, a book was presented, a film was shown, where Oleg Tabakov appeared before the audience in 23 roles played by the master in theater and cinema. Thanks to the dynamic editing and excellent text (Grigory Zaslavsky worked on the script for the film “Tabakov of the Russian Stage”), the intention of its authors is clearly visible - to show that the roles of the master symbolize changes in the country.

The work on the film was difficult, since even many excerpts from the videos were not preserved from many wonderful performances, and it was difficult to find reviews of them. The script writer said that not even a small note was found about the play “At the Bottom”, brilliantly staged by Galina Volchek. When creating the film, the text about the role of Tatarin, perfectly played by Tabakov, was written on a randomly preserved film.

When the hero of the day appeared on the scene, the last frames of the film were still on the screen. His performance became a real one-man show, in which Oleg Tabakov spoke about himself and his family, about young actors who came to The Snuffbox after graduating from a college created by the master.

The problems of the annexation of Crimea were raised. Suddenly, a question was raised about Tabakov’s attitude to the mat in art. The director named the appearance of a new building at Tabakerka as the main event of the season that opened. Its opening is scheduled for March 1 of the coming year.
