AMSTERDAM. The documentary film “Kamchatka is a cure for hate” directed by Yulia Mironova received one of the most prestigious awards of the XXVII International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in the nomination “Best Mid-Length Film”.

In the film, the story comes from the first person - a war correspondent and writer Vyacheslav Nemyshev, who has been to the war more than once and has failed to forget the past military events and adapt to worldly life, takes off his own “selfie”. He goes to Kamchatka, where for several years he has been constantly filming himself in the hope of freeing himself from the nightmares that tormented him and the mental trauma caused by a brutal war.
For the first time in Russia, the premiere of the film took place in Yekaterinburg at the 25th Open Festival of Documentary Films "Russia". There, the scriptwriter and director Julia Mironova was awarded a special prize for the project of the author’s documentary film "DOKer". In Moscow, the premiere will take place on December 23 at the closing ceremony of the eighth season of DOKer.
The script of the film was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in 2013, financial assistance amounted to 1.4 million rubles. The picture was shot by the creative and production association "St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio".
The International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam (IDFA) has been held since 1988 and is considered one of the largest film screenings in the field of non-fiction films. This year’s competition program was attended by over 300 films, the event was attended by about 200 thousand spectators and 2.5 thousand filmmakers from around the world.
