15 Puppet Theaters Come to Yekaterinburg Festival "Parsley the Great" Automatic translate
YEKATERINBURG. Residents of the Ural capital on September 12 turned out to be participants in a grand celebration taking place in the city center. There was music, people in carnival costumes and masks moved in the direction of the puppet theater, where they were met by the main character of the holiday - Petrushka. True, he was not like the hero of Russian puppet shows.
This Parsley made a leap in time - he was transferred from Italy from the time of Leonardo da Vinci to Yekaterinburg, where the participants of the international festival “The Great Parsley” gathered. The festival of puppet shows is being held for the seventh time. This year it was dedicated to the Renaissance - the time when the great inventor lived.
Applications for participation in the puppet festival have filed about a hundred theaters. As a result, 15 teams were among the participants. Theaters from Russia and France, Italy and Spain came to Yekaterinburg. The theater came even from Japan. Among them there are teams working in puppet art for many years, and there are only just starting their journey in this wonderful genre, which is equally interesting for both kids and adults.
According to the director of the Yekaterinburg Puppet Theater, Peter Strazhnikov, it is often said that puppet shows are intended for young audiences. This opinion is erroneous, since the performances in puppet theaters are also full of deep philosophy, it is only expressed in a different format. In the festival poster, performances for children and adults are presented in approximately equal proportions.
In the children’s part of the program, both traditional puppet shows and original performances equally interesting at any age will be presented. Adult viewers will see classic performances and contemporary drama. At the festival, the jury of the Golden Mask Award will work.
