Romeo and Juliet from military Prague on the stage of the Omsk Musical Theater Automatic translate
OMSK. The last rehearsals of the first major directorial work of the leading actress of the troupe Tatyana Bobrova took place at the Omsk Musical Theater. The premiere of “Romeo, Juliet and Darkness” was based on a story written by Czech writer Jan Otchenaszek. Premiere performances will take place on June 19th and 20th. This musical drama (as the production group defined the genre of the play) is a dedication to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow celebrated in Russia on June 22.
Jan Otchenashek wrote a story about the love of two young people who met in Prague during the occupation in 1958. Over the years, she repeatedly attracted the attention of filmmakers and embodied on stage. The director of the play, Tatyana Bobrova, said that the main reason for addressing this story was the desire to create a play that talks about the value of human life, about people who understand the importance of confronting cruelty and aggression.
The stage decision of the performance for the theater became an experiment, although they are not the pioneers of such use of the stage space. To make the audience as close as possible to the heroes of the performance, feeling with them the fear and pain that the Nazi occupation brought, they were put on the stage, next to the artists. The scene rotates, transferring the audience along with the heroes of the play to Prague Street, where student Pavel met the Jewish girl Esther.
The turn of the scene - the audience finds themselves in the house of Paul, where, despite all the prohibitions of the authorities, he hides his beloved. Together with the hero, the Fear accompanying him appears on the stage, materializing in the form of a man dressed in a black hat and coat. He will be constantly with Paul. Fear can appear next to any viewer, sit next to, look into the eyes. This is another interesting find of directors.
