Golden Mask Festival opens with tour of MDT Theater Automatic translate

MOSCOW. On September 28, the MDT tour opened the jubilee, twentieth season of the Golden Mask Theater Festival. Two weeks on the stages of the theaters Et Cetera and Mayakovka, theater actors will show their performances, where the famous director Lev Dodin works as art director.

The Theater of Europe (the St. Petersburg MDT has such a title since 1992) brought five performances to the capital, two of which have not yet been seen in Moscow. This is “The Enemy of the People”, based on the play by Ibsen, as well as “Cunning and Love” - a work well known to theatergoers based on the play by Schiller.

The first tour of the MDT was the Chekhov’s Three Sisters. The show of this performance took place on the Mayakovka stage - this is how the staff of the Lev Dodin Theater responded to the request of metropolitan spectators who did not have time to see the production during last year’s tour. The stage reading by Lev Dodin of the play “Three Sisters” received new shades, before it did not sound in this work.

Among the performances presented to the audience on the tour poster on the stage platform of the theater. Mayakovsky viewers will see a stage version of the novel-epic Grossman’s "Life and Fate." Interest in the work of Grossman is growing every year - in Europe this writer is called the prophet of the 21st century.

At the end of the tour to the capital on the stage of the Et Cetera theater on October 13, the performance “Demons” will take place. Since its duration is almost ten hours, the performance will begin at noon.

MDT participates in the Golden Mask festival for the third time. Previous festival tours took place in 2004 and 2008. In the opening tour on stage, Muscovites will see many of the well-known actors. According to the director of the theater Lev Dodin, in Moscow, spectators always receive MDT with great warmth.
