The latter was not afraid to perform the composer’s works at the time of his lengthy disgrace, and his discography also includes all the symphonies of Dmitry Dmitrievich and the works he wrote for the stage.

The last symphony, recorded in the presence of the author, is presented on disk by his son, pianist and conductor Maxim Shostakovich. His failure to return from the tour could lead to the loss of this record. Such "misconduct" of creative people in Soviet times was punished very harshly: by prohibition, extinction and oblivion.
