MINSK. One of the largest international book exhibitions in the post-Soviet space has opened today for the 22nd time in Minsk. The record number of exhibitors - 28 countries presented their expositions - suggests that this year the literary forum promises to be large-scale.
The Russian Book Union, with the support of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, presented at the literary forum a national stand with two thousand titles of books by leading Russian publishers.
This year, the Russian delegation includes the first secretary of the Union of Writers of Russia Gennady Ivanov, writers Elena Usacheva, Igor Voevodin and Yuri Akvilyanov, general director of RIPOL classic publishing house Sergey Makarenkov, executive director of the St. Petersburg International Book Salon Sergey Kaykin and general director of the publishing house "Time" Boris Pasternak. Vladimir Grigoriev, who is the deputy head of the Federal Press and Mass Media Agency, led the Russian delegation.
This exhibition is dedicated to a significant event - the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. As part of the events dedicated to this anniversary date, a meeting of Russian writers with WWII veterans will be held under the title “Let People Remember Our Names”.
In addition, in the conference hall of the scientific library of the Belarusian National Technical University, representatives of the Russian delegation plan to organize a round table on the topic "How to captivate a child with a reading in the world of computer technology" as part of the Year of Literature in Russia. The event will bring together teachers, librarians, children’s writers, as well as adolescents themselves and their parents.
According to the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Grigoryev, at the end of the exhibition on February 15, all books of the Russian national stand will be donated to the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus.
