Pushkin April 25th. The previous exhibition of the Italian master was held in the museum in 1973. More than forty years later, connoisseurs of pictorial art again got the opportunity to get in touch with the work of celebrities.
The exposition of the retrospective exhibition includes more than 90 works created by Giorgio Morandi. They were provided for the exhibition by large museum collections - part came from the Morandi Museum, located in Bologna, part from the famous Foundations. Some works of the Italian artist arrived in the capital’s museum from reputable private collections.
The exhibition organizers divided the exhibition into several sections. Each of them is devoted to certain topics of the artist’s work - self-portraits, still lifes, landscapes and flowers. All works are also posted taking into account the dates of their creation. Particular attention is paid to a number of works called by the artist “options”. Engravings supplemented by original engraving boards from the collection owned by the National Center for Graphics occupied a separate section. In addition to painting and graphics, the exhibition includes objects from the artist’s workshop. They arrived at the exhibition from the Association of Bologna Museums. In this section of the exhibition you can see photos of Giorgio Morandi and the interior of his workshop.
