KRASNODAR. Museum them. Kovalenko began 2017 with the display of works of art that replenished his unique collection over the past ten years, increasing the museum collection by 1485 exhibits. Many of the works included in the museum’s collection are related to the Krasnodar Territory.

The exhibition of new arrivals, which opened on January 2, presents the most interesting exhibits of various genres, among which the works of contemporary authors are placed next to the works of masters who worked in the 19th century.

During this time, a significant number of paintings by artists who participated in the Patriotic War appeared in the museum’s funds. Art connoisseurs are well acquainted with the work of Grigory Bulgakov, Ivan Konovalov, Peter Ruzheinikov, Vitaly Sidorov.

The number of works performed by artists who took their first steps in creativity in the years 50-60 increased. At the exhibition, the works of these masters are represented by the names of Grigory Petrosyan and Grigory Kravchenko.

The works of artists, whose peak of creativity occurred in the early 70’s, also found a place in the exhibition. These are works created by Mikhail Arkhangelsky, Ivan Zakharov, Nikolai Zakharov and Valentina Palko. A significant number of works of art performed by artists in the years 80-90 were added to museum funds. Famous painters of those years significantly changed the style of the fine art of the region.

A remarkable contribution to the collection of the museum was a collection owned by an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts Ivan Porto. After the departure of the Moscow art historian from life, in 2010 she was presented to the Krasnodar Museum. This collection included the work of such masters as Yuri Mezhirov, Kim Britov and many others.

Acquaintance with the exhibition will continue until January 22.
