NIZHNY NOVGOROD. “The Age of Beauty and Maturity” - this is the name of the exhibition, which opened on December 16 at the National Museum of the National Economy. This exhibition is dedicated to three anniversaries at the same time - the All-Russian Society of the Deaf (VOG) celebrates its 90th anniversary. In 1991, the Association of Deaf Artists of Russia was created. A quarter century has passed. The Hephaestus Cultural Center, which brought together artists with hearing problems from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Saratov, turned out to be just as many years old.
During the work of these organizations, a substantial number of exhibitions of various levels, including international, were organized. Two All-Russian exhibitions took place, and only after a year of work of the AHR, in 1992 a large-scale exhibition was held in the Moscow House of Artists, where more than 100 inaudible artists of our country and abroad showed their works.
After participating in these shows, leading artists became members of the Union of Artists of Russia and other creative associations. At the expense of VOG, the album “Visible Music of Color” was released, which presented the work of deaf artists. It was published twice - in 2006, 2011.
The Overcoming Center Museum named after N. A. Ostrovsky presented the third All-Russian exhibition in 2014, which brought together works by talented visual artists living in a world without sounds. In recent years, several important events have taken place, in which deaf artists have participated.
These were open air and exhibitions held in Smolensk, Pavlovsk, Yasnaya Polyana and Belarusian Dzerzhinsk. Now the works of deaf artists will be first seen by residents of Nizhny Novgorod. The exhibition includes about 200 works belonging to 70 artists, each of which received well-deserved recognition in his chosen genre of art.
The exhibition is open until January 16th.
