MOSCOW. The exhibition "Arctic" in Moscow, dedicated to the celebration of the centenary of Murmansk, was solemnly opened in the exhibition halls of the Central House of Artists. At the opening ceremony, guests of the exhibition were welcomed by the chairman of the Union of Artists Andrei Kovalchuk, and the Governor, Marina Kovtun, represented the Murmansk region.
The exposition, housed in a building on Krymsky Val, was created on the basis of the best works of artists who participated in the exhibition last year, organized annually by the Union of Artists of the Murmansk Region. Under the name "Arctic" the best works of Murmansk art masters are traditionally shown, however, last year’s exhibition was special - it was prepared for the anniversary of the Murmansk organization of the Union of Artists, celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.
Residents of St. Petersburg were the first to get acquainted with the work of artists in the Arctic, where last fall an exhibition of works created by members of the Union of Artists of the Murmansk Territory was organized in the Smolny Hall. Such a large-scale retrospective of the works of artists of the Arctic, first shown outside the region, was a success among visitors to the exhibition.
Now the capital’s inhabitants will also see it. The exhibition "Arctic" in Moscow "includes 65 works of various genres. In addition to painting and graphics, here you can see works representing theatrical decorative art. Most of the works included in the exhibition belong to the regional art museum. The exposition selected works of artists of different generations, including young authors.
The main goal of this exhibition is not just to show the work of artists of the Arctic, but the opportunity to familiarize Muscovites with a severe, but unusually beautiful land, displayed in the works of his talented masters.
You can visit the "Arctic" until June 19.
