NIZHNY NOVGOROD. The five rooms of the Nizhny Novgorod State Museum of Art accommodate works of art of various genres, performed by Volga artists. The exhibition “On the Volga Shores” was created as part of the large-scale project of the same name, organized at the initiative of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation. The first exhibition of the project took place in 2013.
On the banks of the Volga, different peoples have long lived, each of which had its own traditions in art. The main goal of the exhibition project is the development of traditions inherent in national art schools, the expansion of existing creative ties and their increase.
From the experience of similar exhibition projects that took place earlier, it is obvious that the creation of exhibitions combining the works of artists from different regions, different skill levels and different generations serves as an excellent way to bring together not only art communities, but also the cultures of the Volga region.
The exposition presented at the Nizhny Novgorod National Exhibition Center includes works by artists from the cities of Samara and Tolyatti. Painting alternates with graphics. Tapestries occupy a separate place. They do not appear too often at exhibitions, so large woven fabrics of woolen yarn attract the attention of visitors to the exhibition complex. In total, 43 authors take part in the exhibition, presenting about a hundred works of art.
The exhibition "On the Volga Shores" is open until February 28th. At the same time, NGVK has another unique exhibition. Moscow artist Klara Golitsyna represents her work. She writes quite large-scale works, therefore, to accommodate 31 paintings, she also needed five rooms of the complex. Although Klara Golitsyna celebrated her ninetieth anniversary last year, some works have been written recently, especially for the exhibition.
