The artist was not only a witness to these events, but also a participant. This detail of the biography of Kondraty Belov prevented him from receiving the most prestigious award in those years, the Stalin Prize, for his painting “Lesplav on Irtysh”. The picture, which traveled around the world as part of exhibitions, was refused a prize because its author served in the Kolchak army.

Thanks to the canvases written by Belov, one can see the past of Omsk. The artist kept many of the buildings related to architectural monuments in his paintings. The building, where the Master’s Museum is now located, is preserved by Belov’s cares. First, he chose it as a workshop, and then he turned into a house museum.
