The Museum of Modern Art presented the work of Igor Vulokh Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The Moscow Museum of Modern Art on October 16 opened an exhibition dedicated to the artist Igor Vulokh. His works are stored in the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery, are an adornment of many foreign collections. This exhibition was supposed to be the most ambitious display of the artist’s works; more than two years have been prepared for its opening.
However, the artist passed away in November 2012, so the opened exhibition became a posthumous memory of the master. The exposition, composed of the works of Igor Vulokh of various periods, is located in six halls of the museum, collecting 200 works of the artist. The exposition is compiled in chronological order - from student landscapes to the works of the master.
The space of the two halls is decorated in a special way - there is a graphic created by Vulokh and the verses of his long-time friend, poet Gennady Aigi, are heard, with which several cycles of art and poetry were created. According to the artist’s daughter, Lydia, it was these two rooms that made her the greatest impression.
Igor Vulokh was called the “painter of light and air”, a contemplative artist whose primary source of work was color. In his student years, Igor painted beautiful landscapes that aroused admiration of famous artists, but the artist chose a different path, belonging to him personally.
For many years Volokh worked in a realistic manner, and he painted abstract paintings for himself. Only his close friends could see this facet of Igor Volokh’s work, but it was these works that brought him worldwide fame and recognition. There are no complex compositions in these paintings, but they are full of light and harmony, subtle and gentle lyrics, close to every connoisseur of the artist’s creativity.
The exhibition is open until November 24th.
