Moscow University received a collection of paintings as a gift from the Expocenter Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On April 22, a solemn ceremony was held, which was dedicated to the transfer of a unique private collection. This event was held in the building of the library of Moscow State University. Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov received a gift of 300 works of art.
The ceremony was attended by Sergey Bednov, Director General of Expocenter, as well as Viktor Sadovnichy, Rector of Moscow University.
The collection consists of the works of the great Russian artists who belong to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Of the most famous, I.I. Shishkin, A.M. Vasnetsov, V.D. Polenov, M.A. Voloshin, I.I. Levitan and many others.
It is worth noting that in this collection the works of great artists not only of the Soviet period, but also of our talented contemporaries are widely represented.
According to Sergei Bednov, some of the collection was collected by Vladislav Malkevich. Recall that he worked in the foreign trade system. For some time he was at the head of the Expocenter. You can also record the presidency of the former USSR Chamber of Commerce on his account. Just two years ago, he handed over to the staff of the Expocenter those works of art that he had managed to collect earlier.
The collection also includes etchings that were acquired by Expocenter.
Sergei Bednov said that the transfer of the collection as a gift to Moscow State University is a sign of respect for the traditions of cultural life. He emphasized that his decision was nothing more than a manifestation of Expocenter’s social responsibility.
Viktor Sadovnichy, rector of Moscow State University, expressed great gratitude to Expocenter. He told that Moscow University has not received a single gift since its appearance. “This is a gift to the future of our state. We plan that our students will study painting and, of course, the history of the Russian Federation in this work, ”said the rector of Moscow State University.
The collection is planned to be placed in the building of the Fundamental Library. And soon, a special art gallery will be built at Moscow State University.
