IVANOVO. The Great Hall of the Ivanovo House of Artists on February 12 opened a personal exhibition of paintings and drawings by Nikolai Maksimychev. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the painter who passed away last year. Colleagues call the artist the singer of his native city, for many paintings dedicated to Ivanovo, its small and large streets, squares of the city and its inhabitants.

The opening exhibition presents all the genres of painting in which Nikolai Maksimychev worked - urban landscape, genre compositions, still lifes with images of flowers and abstract graphics. The artist wrote and nudity, these works are also included in the exhibition.

Particularly noteworthy are his city landscapes - the most ordinary ones familiar to every resident of Ivanov look especially romantic in the paintings of Nikolai Maximychev. No wonder the artist’s paintings were often presented to friends. Even officials, making trips to the twin city of Hanover, carried Ivanov’s landscapes painted by Maksimychev as a gift.

At the exhibition you can see the artist’s works with views of Hanover, Paris, St. Petersburg, etc. He very much liked working in the open air, and often did not even pay attention to the weather and time of year. Picking up canvas and paints, the artist forgot about the world around him, seeing the meaning of his life only in contact with painting.

The unstoppable passion of creation made it possible for the artist to leave a huge creative legacy and receive the well-deserved attention of art lovers. The artistic handwriting of Maksimychev is easily recognizable, colleagues say that his work is between expressionism and impressionism, considering him one of the most striking and remarkable Ivanovo artists.
