Art "Without Barriers" in the Russian Museum Automatic translate
On December 5, the Russian Museum opens a new exhibition dedicated to contemporary art, which was formed on the eve of the fall of the USSR and developing without state censorship and strict ideological control. Therefore, all residents of St. Petersburg who want to see freedom in its purest form should visit the Benois building until February 4, 2013.
Artists, left on their own, unconnected and not burdened by any government tasks, began to create unique works. Which, on the one hand, demonstrate the complete freedom of expression of their author, and on the other, some kind of global lostness.
The greatest changes were undergone by painting and sculpture, which departed not only from the last vestiges of the classical idea of art that existed in the academic environment of tsarist Russia, but also decided to abandon the Soviet past. Therefore, art from 1985 to 2000 is a wild confusion of contrasts, contradictions and extraordinary experiments.
The exhibition includes not only works stored in the collections of the Russian Museum, but also works of authorship provided directly from the workshops of contemporary artists. The exhibition is widely represented by the works of such authors as Zurab Tsereteli, Tatyana Nazarenko, Grisha Bruskin, Konstantin Zvezdochotov, Andrey Mylnikov, Evsey Moiseenko, Oleg Kulik and others.
Many of the paintings presented are original and may not be understandable to connoisseurs of classical art, but they represent their own age and demonstrate its most characteristic features. Without studying the art of this period, it is impossible to understand the past of Russia and the soul of its people, wounded by devastation, revolutions and lack of integrity.
