The exhibition "Dream as a reality" has opened in the Russian Museum Automatic translate
November 28, visitors to the Russian Museum had the opportunity to attend the opening of a new exhibition of Russian fine art - "Dream as a reality." The exposition was composed of paintings, graphic sheets, sculptures and even illustrations for fiction.
The basis of the exhibition was the theme of dreams in art, which has such a diverse interpretation and finds a spiritual response in almost every person. After all, it is very interesting to observe such a phenomenon as a dream, its cultural transformations, as well as changes associated with the differences of eras.
The basis of the exhibition was composed of beautiful works by Russian masters of the 18th – 20th centuries. Connoisseurs of beauty have the opportunity to “peep” the dreams of such creators as M. A. Vrubel, K. P. Bryullov, K. S. Petrov-Vodkin, A. G. Venetsianov, M. V. Dobuzhinsky, A. T. Matveyev and many others.
Based on these paintings, one can observe not only the evolution of fine art, but also psychology. The classical school, appealing to myths, legends and fairy tales, gives way to deep symbolism, considering the same archetypes, but in the context of their personal perceptions.
The people depicted either find rest in a dream, or nightmares, or their faces are illuminated by happiness, then clouded by powerlessness. And as a result, the paintings are either attracted to the kingdom of Morpheus, or are repelled from it by their terrible images. The exhibition is held in Mikhailovsky Castle and will last until the end of January 2013, so everyone who wants to look “behind the curtain” of sleep can take this opportunity slowly.
