"... There will be three of us ..." - Kazimir Malevich and his associates in the Tretyakov Gallery Automatic translate
The new season of the Tretyakov Gallery opened with a unique exhibition, where visitors received a rare opportunity to get acquainted with the paintings and graphic works of artists who were the founders of a new trend in abstract painting - Suprematism.
The exhibition presents the work of world-famous artist Kazimir Malevich, as well as his students and associates N. Suetin and I. Chashkin. The name of the exhibition was the words taken from a letter written by Kazimir Malevich to one of his loyal followers - Nikolai Suetin. Together, the three artists created a union, affirming and developing a new direction in the art of painting.
More than a hundred works presented in two rooms give visitors the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of artists of different periods of their creative life. There are few works of Malevich himself at the exhibition - most of them are represented by sketches made in pencil. Many of the drawings served as the basis for the works that became famous, paintings stored in museums.
Among the works written by Malevich in oil, at the exhibition you can see two small landscapes of an early period, “Portrait of a Mother”, made in the real style of painting and a small canvas, a Suprematist composition with the image of a circle and a triangle, written in 1915. This was the year when the symbol of Malevich’s work, Black Square, was also written.
The works of Malevich’s associates are mostly graphic works of small sizes, in which one can trace the imitation of his teacher, and the search for his own path through Suprematism. Therefore, their work is of even greater interest to visitors than the work of the famous master.
The exhibition is available until November 25th.
