Igor Dryomin:
"Moscow and Muscovites in the art of the XX-XXI centuries" April 26 - May 21 Automatic translate
In the year of its 120th anniversary, the Museum of Moscow in partnership with the Union of Artists of Russia, the Russian Academy of Arts and the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin presents a retrospective of works of art of the 20th - 21st centuries dedicated to Moscow and Muscovites.
Over the past 25 years, this is the largest exhibition showing a picturesque image of Moscow and the city’s residents. The curators collected about 400 works by key representatives of the Russian avant-garde, socialist realism and contemporary masters, members of the Russian Academy of Arts.
The exhibition space will be divided into thematic zones - the construction of Moscow, the Moscow Kremlin, the war, churches and architectural monuments, the new look of the capital and its citizens - all that Muscovites saw in different years of the city.
The exhibition was based on paintings from the collections of the Museum of Moscow, where there are truly unique works by S. Gerasimov, A. Labas, L. Turzhansky and other iconic painters inspired by Moscow.
The Union of Artists of Russia provided from its collection a magnificent selection of Soviet realistic painting.
For the first time, paintings by painters who have gone from avant-garde to socialist realism will be widely represented: A. Lentulov, A. Osmerkin, P. Konchalovsky from Moscow private collections. The State Museum of A.S. Pushkin supplemented the exhibition with works by T. Mavrina and E. Kumankov.
The paintings, drawings, sculptures and works of applied art presented at the exhibition will allow you to look at the image of Moscow through the prism of artistic synthesis.
An extensive program is planned within the framework of the exhibition, including thematic film screenings, theater performances, lectures and round tables.
