On October 30 at 19:00 at the Identity Center of the Belyaevo gallery of the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association the exhibition Live in Moscow opens - an art project based on the biographical sketches of Dmitry Prigov, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the poet and artist, one of the key representatives of the Moscow conceptualism.
The drama of the exhibition is built in accordance with the sections of the book of the same name by Dmitry Prigov "Live in Moscow". From childhood and communal realities on Spiridonovka, Shabolovka, on the outskirts of the Ostroumovskaya hospital in Sokolniki, visits to the Palace of Pioneers in Presnya, a short work as a locksmith at the Zil plant and immersion in monumental and decorative sculpture in Stroganovka to a vibrant creative life with family and friends in Duchy of Belyaevsky.
“Moscow is Belyaevo, Belyaevo is Moscow,” Dmitry Aleksanych liked to say. For example, in Belyaevo there may be a “jagged, serene” Kremlin, and the Yauza River may flow in Belyaevo, and from the roof of a panel five-story building on Vvedensky it is permissible to see Sokolniki and Presnya, Shabolovka and Lengora. It is easy and joyful to remember this, however, according to the Duke of Belyaevo, it is difficult to believe in all this.
The exhibition "Live in Moscow" is dedicated to this faith. A kind of synoptic gospel of a Muscovite. It is viewed as an apocryphal tale of an endless walk. The exposition presents photographs, fragments of memories, and Dmitry Prigov’s spontaneous walk through the center of Moscow with Yevgeny Popov, when Leonid Brezhnev was buried, and Dmitry Aleksanych’s author’s tour of the "writer’s" places in Moscow, which the viewer sees in the film "Moskvadva".
Dmitry Aleksanych’s stories sound at the exhibition as if from an analog device with characteristic overtones and a "thorn", but clearly and in a good everyday manner.
Curator of the project: Maxim Gureev, director, screenwriter, writer, author of a number of biographical projects, about D. A. Prigov: documentary film “Moskvadva” (2007), book “Space for an echo” (2019).
