The sculptor, painter, member of the Union of Artists of Russia Rustam Ansarovich Gabbasov was born on February 21, 1956 in the village of Lakly, Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. After graduating from school, he entered the art and graphic department of the Nizhny Tagil Pedagogical Institute. After receiving a diploma of higher education in 1978, Rustam Ansarovich took an internship course in Leningrad, at the Higher Art and Industrial College named after V.I. Mukhina.
For a long time, Rustam Gabbasov lived and worked in the Perm Territory, but having visited Kazan, fell in love with this city. For more than ten years, R. A. Gabbasov has been teaching at the Department of Design at the Institute of Light Industry Technologies, Fashion and Design, Kazan National Research Technological University.
Rustam Gabbasov is a participant and winner of numerous national competitions and festivals of architectural and sculptural works. Stone, wood, metal, ice - any material is subject to the sculptor. Gabbasov’s works adorn the squares of Nizhnekamsk, Aktanysh, Chistopol. In 2011, a memorial sign was opened in the Bulgars. Kirovsky district of Kazan is decorated with a bronze monument to the workaholic horse Petrushka by Gabbasov. The artist participated in the design of the Tukaevskaya station of the Kazan metro. In 2015 - early 2016 in Nizhnekamsk, a monument to the workers of the rear was erected, as well as sculptural compositions based on the works of G. Tukai. Today, R. A. Gabbasov is one of the leading sculptors of the republic.
The exhibition at the National Art Gallery features about 30 paintings (landscape, still life, genre painting) and sculptural works made of wood, polymer, Ural stone, which have their own unique, easily recognizable style.
The exhibition runs until March 20, 2016.
