According to the press center of the Kaliningrad Amber Factory, in the last days of March, several artists from the Russian Amber creative group came to the enterprise. According to the representatives of the plant, the designers were able to see all the stages of the production process, from the extraction of amber and the steps for processing it to the creation of jewelry directly. This visit should be the first step in the formation of the “amber cluster”, which will take place on the basis of the Kaliningrad Amber Factory.

The curator of Russian Amber, O. Kazmina, also commented on the visit. According to her, such a dialogue turned out to be constructive and clearly showed the prospects for joint cooperation. The curator noted that the artists better understood the production subtleties, got an idea about the fractions of amber and the technological aspects of processing. According to Kazmina, the management of the plant welcomes new ideas and is ready for cooperation, and the curator is confident that artists will be able to present new designs of jewelry products that can take their place in the fashion world.

Development Prospects and Further Cooperation

The Amber Plant plans to organize an experimental workshop this year: promising young jewelers and domestic amber specialists will be able to demonstrate their talents in the work there. According to the management of the enterprise, joint work with designers will affect this sphere of jewelry business positively. According to representatives of the plant, it will be possible to create optimal conditions for work in the production, since it will be possible to find out directly what jewelry masters need.

In the future, in the village of Yantarny, they can also open an art school, in which they will be trained as masters of jewelry and stone processing. If the institution appears, then practical classes will be organized in the workshops of the Amber Factory. The company’s press center said that graduates of this school will be able to find work at the place of practical training, i.e. at the plant itself.

Kaliningrad Amber Plant JSC was established in 1947, and at the beginning of last year came under the wing of the state at the direction of President Putin. Today, the Amber Plant is the only enterprise of world importance that is engaged in the extraction and processing of amber on a large scale. The Palmniken field contains approximately 90% of the world’s amber reserves, and about 300 tons are mined annually.
