On August 23 at 16.00 in the Gallery of Siberian Art (K. Marx St., 23) an exhibition of artists of Buryatia "I am called to steppe to sing…" dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the republican branch of the Union of Artists of Russia opens. The exposition for the first time in full demonstrates a collection of Buryat art of the Irkutsk Art Museum, as well as the work of contemporary authors of Buryatia from their workshops.

The collection of art of Buryatia of the twentieth century in the collection of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukacheva is an important part of the museum fund. It presents the most striking examples of Buryat fine art: paintings, drawings, sculptures, objects of decorative art, created by artists of different generations.

Among the works of prominent representatives of the art of Buryatia, one can see the paintings of the founder of the Buryat professional art, Tsyrenzhap Sampilov, Maria Metyolkina, Alla Tsybikova, graphics by Alexander Okladnikov, Evgenia Nevolina-Okladnikova, Alexandra Sakharovskaya. Decorative and applied art is represented by the work of masters of artistic ceramics - Valentin Bazarov and Rygzema Zhimbieva, tapestries by Tatyana Dashieva, and jewelry by Zhamsaran Erdneyev. A galaxy of brilliant masters of the 20th century, including Dashi Namdakov, Zandan Dugarov, Geser Zodboyev, Dmitry Budazhabe, Petr Garmaev, demonstrates bronze casting and art work with metal.

The exhibition project aims to demonstrate the most striking achievements and names, to show the artistic potential of the Buryat art of the twentieth century, the development of which was largely influenced by the picturesque tradition of the Irkutsk school.

Art lovers will see the presentation of the album catalog of the exhibition. During the exhibition, a round table is planned on the problems and characteristics of contemporary art in Buryatia, to participate in which, in addition to a professional audience, art lovers, connoisseurs of Buryat culture are invited.
