March 22 at 16.00 in the main building of the Irkutsk Art Museum (Lenin St., 5) opens the exhibition "Artist. Theatre. Actor ”, dedicated to the Year of the Theater in Russia. A large-scale exposition from the collection of the museum, Irkutsk theaters, Irkutsk art school and artists’ workshops fully reflects the artist’s work as an integral part of theatrical art.
The work of the theater is unthinkable without the participation of the artist. Posters, sets, costumes, props - all this makes a significant contribution to the overall imagery of the performance. At the same time, the artist himself almost always remains in the shadows - the painstaking work going on in the backstage shops is hidden from the public eye. Exhibition “Artist. Theatre. Actor ”for the first time in the exhibition halls of the Irkutsk Art Museum provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the difficult work of theater artists. The exposition presents portraits of actors, directors and artists of the theater, mock-ups of scenery, playbills, costume designs, fragments of scenography of performances, photographs and much more. Almost all theaters of Irkutsk took part in the exhibition project, kindly providing exhibits from their collections for the duration of the exhibition, as well as the Irkutsk Theater School, artists and photographers.
An important part of the exhibition is occupied by theatrical works from the collections of the Irkutsk Art Museum itself - portraits of theater artists, actors, sketches of sets and costumes. Many exhibits will be presented to viewers for the first time.
The exhibition will open on March 22 in the main building of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukacheva (Lenin St., 5) and will work until April 21. Entrance to the opening is free. Phone for inquiries: 34-01-46.
