From February 19, the Exhibition Company "ArtExpo" invites everyone to visit the exhibition "Vermeer and Rembrandt. Two Masters ”, which opened in the Omsk House of Artists, which will tell you about the work of two great masters, whose works are considered to be the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Dutch painting.
Rembrandt Harmenszon ("Harmen’s son") van Rijn does not need a special introduction, the name of this artist is mentioned a little less often than the name of Leonardo da Vinci, and the number of his works is in the hundreds. At the beginning of the last century, it was believed that about 800 paintings belonged to the artist’s brush, but the use of modern methods of authentication helped to weed out numerous copies and forgeries of the master’s works by his students. The final catalog, published in 2014, contains a list of 346 paintings.
Rembrandt’s work is an amazing breadth of the thematic range. The artist’s works show the deepest humanism. And at the same time, the painter was constantly in creative search, trying to find the most expressive artistic means. It was these continuous attempts to achieve perfection that became the reasons why Rembrandt van Rijn is the greatest artist today. Figures of fine arts are still equal to his unsurpassed skill, and the painter’s canvases fascinate at first sight.
Jan Vermeer, on the other hand, left behind a very small number of works, but this did not prevent him from becoming one of the greatest masters of painting in Holland in the 17th century. The themes for most of his works he took from everyday life: a young woman, absorbed in reading a letter in a sunlit room; a girl in a red hat with an expectant expression on her face; the tiled roofs and church spiers of Delft under the endless sky.
Most of Vermeer’s works are compositions in a carefully crafted interior, with a small number of figures. There are also several cityscapes. There are practically no religious subjects.
According to some contemporary authors, Vermeer and a number of other Renaissance artists used technical means: camera obscura, camera lucida and spherical mirrors to achieve perfection in creating the effect of perspective and lighting. These theories are considered hypothetical and criticized both by artists and scientists.
The exposition of the exhibition includes 78 paintings by artists, covering different stages of their career. The works are accompanied by a description of the plots and the history of the creation of each painting. Also, for convenience, the exhibition is accompanied by an audio guide. There will be guided tours for guests. You can buy souvenirs as a keepsake.
Thanks to modern technologies, using the giclee technique, one can completely recreate immortal masterpieces on natural canvas, reproduce the smallest nuances of color and chiaroscuro, convey the character and texture of a stroke. Even the time stamp in the form of craquels is preserved. Unlike artistic copies made in oil on canvas by professional copyist artists, digital art reproduction is not an imitation, but an accurate, facsimile reproduction of the original.
