In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The earth was formless and empty,
and darkness over the abyss;
and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters.
The MastArt gallery has opened the Chaos Theory exhibition, which combines the painting cycle of Sergey Maksyutin and the sculptural works of Daria Surovtseva, Dasha Namdakov, Viktor Korneev, Vadim Kirillov and Maxim Aksyonov.
The work presented is based on the idea of chaos, as the beginning of all things, chaos that bears beauty and ugliness, elements and emptiness, power and inaction. The chaos theory in art refers us, first of all, to the philosophical works of Friedrich Nietzsche. In the work "So Said Zarathustra," the protagonist saw in the struggle between good and evil the true source of the movement of everything and everything.
Each author in his own way reveals the topic of chaos in his usual artistic language. Porcelain sculptures by Daria Surovtseva (“Reconstruction of emotions”, “Cosmos”, “Coronation”) embody abstract metaphors resembling sea creatures or cosmic images. The sculptor’s works reflect the inner secret emotional action that exists, without clear names, purpose and direction, the essence of Being. The sculpture of Victor Korneev (“The Diver”) gravitates not so much to a direct reflection of reality as to philosophical conclusions based on direct life impressions. Often the sculptor’s motive for formal balance and balance reflects the eternal theme of choice, the struggle against the vicissitudes of fate, the desire to stay on the edge in the absence of stability. Vadim Kirillov (“Against the Current,” “The Philosopher”) is represented by contrasting content works. Immersion in oneself, in one’s inner chaos of the philosopher, on the one hand, and active stoic opposition of the rower on the other.
The center of the exhibition was the eponymous series of works by Sergei Maksyutin. It is no accident that the author says about himself: "I am an artist of primary matter." In these works, he most boldly, fully, vividly expressed his philosophical ideas, the desire to comprehend and convey the essential states of Being. The abyss is the foundation of everything, it is around and inside man, and it is it that is the beginning of everything. As the Nietzschean Zarathustra said: “You need to carry more chaos in yourself in order to be able to give birth to a dancing star. I tell you: there is still chaos in you. "
The exhibition is open from March 15 to 27.
