The creative path of Nikolai Ivanovich Andriyaka (1905-1977), a remarkable artist and teacher, can be divided into several periods. The formation years of the master coincided with the period of the 20s of the XX century, when a wave of debate over the construction of a "new culture" swept society. First, Nikolai Andriyaka studied in Moscow - in the studio of the artist D.N. Kardovsky, and then in Leningrad - with the professor of painting at the Academy of Arts A.I.Savinov. The next stage, the most significant in the artist’s creative biography, was the years of World War II. In 1941, he volunteered for the front, fought, was awarded the Order of the Red Star and medals, worked as an artist in a front-line newspaper. Often to the nearest room it was urgent to draw a soldier who distinguished himself in battle. In the post-war heritage of the master, 84 portraits were preserved, for which the artist was posed not just by a specific person, but it seems the era. Character traits that formed in wartime, such as self-discipline, the ability to quickly and accurately make decisions, and persistence in achieving the goal, helped him in peacetime. The post-war period is the longest and filled with joy, freedom of being. This time was associated with teaching at the art school at the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, to which he devoted most of his life. A talented artist and teacher, who personally went through and understands all the complexity, and all the hardships of the long and difficult road to Art, he devoted himself to him, combining creativity and teaching.
