October 2 in the main building of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after VP Sukachev (Lenin st., 5) the exhibition "My destiny is Irkutsk", dedicated to the 360th anniversary of the city, begins its work. The exposition includes about 200 works of painting, graphics and arts and crafts from the collection of the museum and workshops of artists. The exhibition shows the history of Irkutsk through portraits of prominent people who made a significant contribution to the life and development of the city.
The exposition is divided into thematic blocks with portraits of Irkutsk governors, representatives of the clergy, merchants, honorary citizens of the city, political exiles, cultural and scientific workers. Due to its retrospective nature (the earliest work dates back to the end of the 18th century, at the latest - 2021), the exhibition allows us to trace the evolution of the portrait genre: from a local provincial phenomenon to an important component of the cultural heritage of Russian art.
"My destiny is Irkutsk" is a new large-scale exhibition, created in collaboration with the Irkutsk branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. The exhibition project is being implemented with the support of the regional government and the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk Region. The exhibition catalog is being prepared for publication.
The exhibition "My destiny is Irkutsk" will be open in the main building of the museum (Lenin st., 5) from October 2 to November 28. Telephone for inquiries and booking excursions: 34-01-46. We remind you of the need to observe the mask regime and social distance when visiting the museum.
