April 7 at the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) opens the exhibition “Wonderland. Book artists for children. The exposition is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Irkutsk branch of the Union of Artists of Russia and includes more than 300 original drawings from the funds of the Irkutsk Art Museum, private collections and collections of authors. The illustrations are made in a variety of techniques: drawing and watercolor, etching and woodcut, lithography and linocut, engraving and screen printing.
The retrospective part of the exhibition will allow a closer look at the work of such Soviet classics of children’s books as Evgeny Rachev, Yuri Vasnetsov, Mai Miturich-Khlebnikov. A large block of the exposition is dedicated to the works of Irkutsk graphic artists and painters who illustrated literature for children. Among them are such well-known names as Georgy Levy, Vladimir Tetenkin, Raisa Bardina-Shpirko. The modern stage is represented by the works of both already recognized masters of artistic illustration (A. Shpirko, A. Samarin, A. Muravyov, Y. Lisitsina, S. Grigoriev and others), and young graphic artists (A. Martynova, E. Pavlova, A. Svinareva, M. Ryumshina, S. Zhgilev, S. Zakharov, D. Serkov and others). The work of modern authors demonstrates the continuity of the accumulated experience in the field of graphic design of the book, stylistic diversity, as well as new trends and technologies inherent in today’s book graphics. The exposition is complemented by books of the East Siberian Book Publishing House, as well as modern publications for children.
Exhibition “Wonderland. Book Artists for Children” will run at the Gallery of Siberian Art (Karl Marx St., 23) until May 22. Phone for inquiries and appointments for excursions: 33-43-89. We remind you of the need to observe the mask regime and social distance when visiting the museum.
