On July 5, in the Nagornaya gallery of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association, the opening of the Neighbors exhibition will be held as part of the MMOMA Young Art Support Program and the Parallel Program of the 6th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art.
Gallery "Nagornaya" has a long and rich history. This is the first state exhibition hall created outside the center of Moscow in 1978. For forty years, many wonderful and talented artists have been associated with the gallery and the area. Some opened their first exhibition here, others lived nearby, while others had a workshop nearby. The project "Neighbors" is designed to introduce different generations of neighbors - artists and spectators, to show the history of the district and the gallery through the work of 20 artists.
The exhibition will feature: painting, installations, sculpture, photos, as well as archival materials collected on the basis of a preliminary study conducted by the curator. The Neighbors project is the result of working with local creative communities.
“For example, in one of the works, the artist decided to consider the system of lawn fencing in terms of language, as part of a grammatical system with which the city speaks with its inhabitants. She began to sketch different design options for lawn barriers in her area, which were formed in 33 units - according to the number of letters of the Russian alphabet, although rather they are not letters, but ideograms or hieroglyphs. It is surprising that after the work was done, in the area where the artist lives, most of the lawn barriers were removed ”- Ala Hestanti, curator of the project, on the work of Ekaterina Isaeva.
