The exhibition presents more than 100 works from the collection of the museum and workshops of artists of different generations in the genre of portraiture, landscape, still life, as well as works of decorative and applied art.
Irkutsk has always been an inspiration for the creation of works of art. Its wooden architecture, a peculiar way of life, an ebullient life, Lake Baikal, the nature of the Baikal region attracted the attention of painting masters throughout all times.
Painting, like poetry, is given to convey an almost tangible, concrete image, to express the elusive soul of the city, to preserve the quivering moments of life. Each painting - whether a landscape, portrait, still life - all of them together make up a poem about Irkutsk.
At the exhibition you can see the works of prominent representatives of the Irkutsk school of painting: A. I. Alekseev, A. F. Rubtsov, A. G. Kostovsky, A. I. Vychugzhanin, V. V. Tenkin. Presented are paintings by V. Kuzmin, praising the departing Irkutsk in his works; dramatic landscapes of N. Vershinin, B. Desyatkin; original works of G. Novikova, A. Pogrebny, G. Kuzmin. The unfading traditions of realism - the choice of artists Y. Karnaukhov, Y. Kvasov and D. Lysyakov.
The exhibition "Middle Earth", dedicated to the anniversary of the city, will open in the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Art Museum on the street. Karl Marx, 23 June 3 at 15.00 and will last until July 3.
