From October 9, in the gallery "Nagornaya" of the Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" within the framework of the VII Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, an exhibition-installation opens, addressing private history, the stories of people and their things.
Working on the implementation of the main idea of the project (to combine together the stories of people and their things into a single whole), we turned the exhibition space into a large-scale textile installation, which is a material metaphor for how the private / local / everyday intertwines with other private / local / everyday and turns into general / global.
The things themselves, as well as the stories of these things told by their owners and documented (in video and audio), became an integral part of the installation.
We are surrounded by things that we wear, things that we do not wear, but keep, things that we bought ourselves, things that were presented to us, things that have passed to us by inheritance, and things that we have made with our own hands. All these things have stories, heroic and not so, fabulous and chamber, magical and everyday, which, with their commonness and ordinariness, make our everyday experience unique and inimitable.
The Raz / Archive project includes several projects embedded in the fabric of the exhibition narrative and dedicated to painstaking work with memory and private stories:
Lina Buksdorf. "A very personal story."
Nina Veresova. "Procedural".
Alexandra Pavlovskaya. Installation "Smell on Memory Shelves".
As part of the project, we also present several objects from the Museum of Holes and Patches (village Kiryanovo, Yaroslavl Region).
The stories that became plots for animated films, as well as their audio recordings, are provided by the PostPost project. Media.
Raz / Archive is an ongoing project that premiered in November 2019 in Krasnoyarsk. Preparations for its premiere took place in the summer of 2019 at the site of the Nagornaya gallery, where the participants brought their belongings, their stories, and weaved a part of themselves into the common canvas "Once / Archives".
