The Museum of Moscow opens the exhibition "RayON. 0 "in the genre of" immersive museum ". The exposition includes historical artifacts of sleeping areas, a performance program, lectures, discussions and the first vertical cinema in Russia.
Project “RayON. 0 ”is an interdisciplinary exhibition of 20-35-year-old artists who conceptualize the experience of post-Soviet existence. She will tell about the everyday life of the inhabitants of the "concrete outskirts" and the history of panel construction. The authors invite you to think about the sleeping areas of Moscow and the growing "unified" heritage of the XX-XXI centuries, recognizing the world of high-rise buildings as an inevitable future for the entire human civilization, and, therefore, a zone of collective responsibility. The exhibition is complemented by an educational program and performative practices.
The project manager and curator of the historical part is Alina Saprykina, director of the Moscow Museum. The curators of the modern part are graduates of the experimental course of Yevgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov, directing department of GITIS: Denis Sazonov, Alina Brovina and Egor Matveev.
Alina Saprykina: “The historical part of the exposition - a realistic reconstruction of the period of“ timelessness ”- immerses you in the life of Moscow suburbs at the break of the Soviet era of the 1970-1990s. The focus is on the sleeping areas of the city and their subject-clothing world, which has settled in the collection of the Moscow Museum. Nearby, colleagues created a total installation - the daily routine of the sleeping areas is shown through the optics of modern art, which revived history and rethought it. Here “Paradise. 0 ”is a kind of cultural designer, with the help of which young artists modeled a new language acceptable to their generation. The combination of these two times and spaces is the most interesting part of the project. ”
The exposition, combining the objects of urban history and works of modern art, overcomes the usual museum boundaries, and the reality of Russian cities is shown in a new focus. Artists apply to the understanding of the “panel” heritage the objective view of young generations - a hybrid of ironic comments on the stereotypical life “in the region” and social ideas for immediate changes in each city.
Mikhail Fomkin will present his new work “Shestnashki”, in which he watches serial houses in different cities of Russia through a game of tag, Kristina Kolesnikova in the “Blanket” object will express child phobias from memories of the sleeping area using the “patchwork” technique, and Ekaterina Zlaya will create the installation “Here you can officially baton”, made of standard furniture in a standard apartment exclusively using the most typical product in the country.
For the architectural solution of the exhibition, an image of an endless grid was chosen. The grid symbolizes any “panel” area. It simultaneously unites and disconnects objects, as well as the architecture of the outskirts of the bedroom - ignores and absorbs the natural human environment. This leads to the constant construction of new levels and war for every centimeter.
The video program is a separate area of the exhibition space with the first vertically oriented cinema in Russia and a repertoire of commercials and films in this format specially prepared for the project.
An integral part of the project “Rayon. 0 ”is a performative program prepared by the art director of the exhibition Egor Matveev. The headliners are the dilogy of the performances “HR: Citizen” and “HR: Artist” from Gogol School laboratories. The performance "HR: Citizen" is dedicated to the residents of Moscow, it involves objects of historical heritage from the funds of the Museum of Moscow. The production of “HR: The Artist” tells about the authors of the modern part of the exhibition and the contemporary art as a global phenomenon.
Also, spectators are waiting for the plastic play “Endless” by the choreographer of the Gogol Center Igor Sharoyko and students of Dialog. Lab, musical experiments of the Sound Geometry collective from the Central House of Artists and performance, curated by the theater journal Intent.
The lecture and discussion program is devoted to the rethinking of Soviet traditions and the concept of the “new norm” for modern man.
