The exposition will comprise about 150 sculptural and graphic works of the artist of different years, representing the work of this bright master.
The works of N.N. Vyatkina - a sculptor, artist of monumental and decorative art, graphic art, and a painter, is known to a wide audience and is marked by honorary domestic and foreign professional awards. Dozens of her monumental compositions are installed in various cities of Russia and neighboring countries. The works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Ceramics and the Kuskovo Estate, in the museums of Vologda, Togliatti, Nizhny Tagil, Tomsk, Tver, Guvaldo (Italy), Miskolc (Hungary), in private collections in Russia and abroad. N. Vyatkina is the author of prize figurines of several international festivals and competitions. Her personal exhibitions were held in the cities of Russia and many foreign countries - Italy, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, France.
Natalia Nikolaevna Vyatkina belongs to the generation that declared itself in the 70-80s of the XX century. In her work embodied the main trends in the development of artistic plastics of the twentieth century and today. She was born in 1941 in Vologda. In 1965 she graduated from the Yaroslavl Art School, in 1971 - the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (formerly Stroganov), faculty of monumental and decorative art, studied with B.E. Simakova, G.A. Zakharova. Already by the third year of Stroganovka, in addition to studies, the artist began to fulfill independent orders. By the end of the school, it was already an established sculptor with a good knowledge of the material, the traditions of Russian and European plastic. First of all, in easel works with their clear compositional structure, sonorous color palette, the innovations of the time were most boldly executed by the artist. At domestic and foreign exhibitions, she confidently declared herself a mature master.
The works of the 1980s demonstrated her talent as a monumentalist. Convincing “city-forming” stone compositions in Stepnogorsk are “Legend of the Steppes” and “Youth” with expressive horizontal and vertical arrays of figures, large structural blocks. The emphasized architectonics of generalized plastic volumes is also characteristic of her other monumental works, such as The Four Seasons in Obninsk, Victory in Moscow, and works for the architectural ensembles of Adler, Vologda, Zheleznovodsk, Ferapontov.
The main theme of N. Vyatkina’s creative searches is man, as a measure of all things, a man in his various forms, emotional manifestations, mental movements and spiritual aspirations. Sculptural portraits, multi-figure compositions, graphic sheets, and paintings make up an extensive gallery of images of specific personalities and plastic interpretations of a whole sphere of concepts that form the basis of human life. The world of music, theater, poetry is a circle of her artistic priorities and plastic searches.
N. Vyatkina works in wood, metal, is engaged in porcelain. However, the true element of the sculptor is ceramics, the methods of work with which it transfers even to monumental plastic. Creative searches of the master are consistently implemented in each sculptural work, logically developing from the analysis of natural objects to large generalizations, forming, as a result, the author’s plastic language. In the master’s works, with their lyricism, harmony, verified proportions, there is a tendency to clear geometry of lines and graphic silhouette, inspired by cubism and expressionism. In striving for the most complete embodiment of the plan, Natalia Vyatkina also found new possibilities of the material, a variety of firing techniques, new large architectural forms of porcelain and her painting techniques. “Spring Swing”, “Inspirational Composer”, “Duet”, “Muse”, “Orphan”, “Torso”, “Themis”, “Amazon”… Her works, which are so different in theme and plot, are inherent in the integrity and organics of the composition, measured “song” movement of form and at the same time a variety of imaginative and emotional sounds. Themes of a number of works are dictated by deep-seated emotional ties with his native Vologda - “Poet” (Nikolai Rubtsov), “Lacemaker”. Many trace ancient reminiscences.
No less widely than author’s sculpture, the exhibition presents paintings and drawings by N. N. Vyatkina. Compositions made using watercolors, gouache, pencil drawing techniques conquer with laconicism and logic of form, depth of images, confidence, energy of the line. Graphics and sculpture by Vyatkina in a single exhibition space appear as an inextricable unity, characterizing the rare integrity of the author’s creative personality. Researchers note that the “spirit of clarity, aesthetic completeness, characteristic of her personality, gives the work of recent years a strict, monumental character, meets the unshakable laws of beauty and perfection."
One of the sections of the exposition presents the works of Anton Vyatkin, the artist’s son. In the work of the young sculptor, the successor of the creative dynasty, the development of the tradition of domestic plastic and the trends of modern art were found.
N.N. Vyatkina is an active participant in numerous Russian and foreign exhibitions, pays much attention to social activities. She is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, the Moscow Union of Artists, the Regional Public Organization “Society of Solidarity and Cooperation of the Peoples of Asia and Africa”, the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Accessible Environment for Persons with Disabilities”, the Commission on Culture of the Regional Public Organization “Vologda Community” in Moscow.
